How Much Does Custom Carpentry Cost in Dubai?

Why two carpentry quotes for “the same” wardrobe can differ so widely — and the handful of decisions that move the number.

The honest short answer is that custom carpentry in Dubai is priced by scope, not by the piece — which is exactly why two quotes for “the same” wardrobe can look so different. Understanding what actually sets custom carpentry cost in Dubai lets you read a quote properly and compare like for like, instead of picking the cheapest sheet of paper.

Why two carpentry quotes can differ so much

A joinery quote is a bundle of decisions — board, finish, hardware, complexity and who fits it — and each one has a cheap version and an expensive version. A wardrobe built from standard laminate on a thin carcass with basic hinges is a genuinely different product from one in real veneer on a moisture-resistant carcass with soft-close runners, even if the elevation drawing looks identical. Most of the price gap you see is not margin; it is specification.

What actually drives the cost

Material and carcass

The carcass — the box you never see — is where quality is quietly won or lost. In Dubai, moisture-resistant board matters because interiors swing between a sealed, chilled room and an open door in August. Thicker board, better edge-banding and proper backs cost more and last longer than the thin, unbanded alternatives.

The finish

Veneer, lacquer and laminate each fail differently and each belongs somewhere. Sprayed lacquer gives a seamless front but shows a poor substrate more than any other finish; real veneer is sequence-matched across a run so the grain carries through; laminate is the honest choice where a surface takes daily abuse. The finish you choose is often the single biggest line on the quote.

Hardware and mechanisms

Soft-close hinges and runners, lift systems and integrated lighting are small items that add up fast across a whole home — and they are the parts you touch every day, so they are rarely the place to save.

Scale, complexity and site

A run of flat doors is quicker to make and fit than fluting returned around corners, curved fronts or a media wall set out so the pitch holds across the span. And because joinery is scribed to the room it actually meets, out-of-square walls, services in the wrong place and difficult access all add labour on site.

Drawings and setting-out

A proper shop drawing and a measured survey cost time up front and save money later — a correction on the bench costs an hour; the same correction on site costs a day. A quote that skips this stage is often cheaper for a reason.

Where it is worth spending — and where it is not

  • Spend on the carcass, the finish and the hardware you use daily.
  • Save by keeping fronts simple and letting one workshop make the whole room, so a fault has nowhere to hide between a fabricator and an installer.
  • Be wary of a quote that is far below the others — it usually means a thinner board, a cheaper finish or basic hardware, not a better deal.

How to compare carpentry quotes in Dubai

  • Ask what board and thickness the carcass uses, and whether it is moisture-resistant.
  • Confirm the finish by name — veneer, lacquer or laminate — not just “wood effect”.
  • Check whether soft-close hardware and lighting are included or extra.
  • Ask who manufactures and who installs — one team, or two.
  • Make sure a survey and shop drawings are part of the price.

The honest answer

We do not publish a per-metre figure, because a real number comes from a real scope. The way to get an accurate price is a short site visit and a drawing — then you are comparing a defined specification, not a guess.
